Surf Sports

Surf Sports are an exciting part of the lifesaving movement and helps develop skills and fitness which can be used in performing rescues. Regularly throughout the season, there are carnivals at which Tallebudgera lifesavers compete with keen enthusiasm.

Carnivals see people of all ages competing – from Nippers to Masters and all ages in between. The surf sports season culminates in the titles – held at Branch, State and National levels

There is a broad range of competitive activities available in surf sports, for example:

SKI PADDLING

BEACH EVENTS (SPRINTS, FLAGS)

SWIM EVENTS

SURF BOATS

BOARD PADDLING

IRON MAN/WOMEN EVENTS

INFLATABLE RESCUE BOAT COMPETITION

FIRST AID COMPETITION

Every athlete must have a minimum qualification of either a Surf Rescue Certificate (Juniors) or a Bronze Medallion and must meet patrol hour requirements to compete at carnivals. In most cases this will be 25 hours.
