Tallebudgera Surf Life Saving Club is located adjacent to the Tallebudgera Recreation Camp (formerly the National Fitness Camp), with the clubhouse located approximately 500 metres south of the entrance to the Tallebudgera Creek. The Club was formed in 1946 by a group of National Fitness Camp members who saw the need to provide a service to beachgoers by providing a surf patrol.
The Club’s patrol area includes the area south of the Tallebudgera Creek to a point coinciding with the northern limits of the area patrolled by Pacific SLSC. Beach patrols are conducted from approximately mid-September through to the end of April. In recent years, the club added to its coverage by providing an ‘outpost’ patrol service to watch over swimmers, surfers and boats in the Tallebudgera Creek-mouth, which can be particularly treacherous on an outgoing tide.
Presently the Club (Surf Club and Supporter’s Club) has more than 19,000 members including Nippers, Active and Long Service categories of membership. “Talle” as we fondly call it, has members from 5 to 80 (and beyond), drawn from all walks of life.
The Junior membership is particularly active with the Nippers held on Sunday mornings; additionally, they attend regular carnivals with Nippers competing in a variety of activities.
Tallebudgera Surf Life Saving Club offers a service for all age groups of the community in providing a safe place to swim and enjoy the beach through the warmer months of the year. In addition, Tallebudgera SLSC provides young people with the opportunity to learn new skills and disciplines, as well as serve their community.
Physical fitness is an important aspect of lifesaving, and competition through a program of competitions, known as surf carnivals, are a feature and help ensure that the volunteer lifesavers maintain a high level of fitness. Surf Carnivals typically commence during November and run through until March. During this period, competitions take place at a local, State and National level, culminating at the National Titles.
Although situated on the Gold Coast with its famed tourist attractions and high-rises, Tallebudgera beach has always been a well-kept secret; located outside of the usual tourist strip, at about the mid-point of the surf beaches on the Gold Coast, we tend to see the same faces visiting year after year, and we have a strong sense of community. We are positioned adjacent to the Tallebudgera Creek, giving us easy access to a calm water environment as well as the surf.
Since the founding of our surf lifesaving Club in 1946, we have gone from strength to strength. Nippers activities began in 1987 and our Supporters’ club was added in 1990. We have grown the club considerably over the last 15 years and have plans to do more and to continue to contribute to our local community.

Patrols are the lifeblood of Tallebudgera SLSC. Once you have obtained your Bronze Medallion or your Surf Rescue Certificate you will be rostered to perform patrol activities at “Talle”.
